More About PRP Hair Loss Treatment

The PRP treatment is a three-step straightforward process. It usually takes 30-40 minutes of your precious time. So, don’t expect to spend a whole day in our office (unless you choose to).

First, our medical aesthetician draws 20 ml of your blood in a special PRP tube. The same way you have it done in any doctor’s office when you need a blood test. 20 ml is about one tablespoon, so it does not have any negative impact on your health.

The second step is to place the blood sample into a centrifuge. You have probably seen the machine in a hospital or in a movie that spins around very quickly. Well, that’s the machine we use. The spinning process separates the blood components. In 15 minutes we get what we need – PRP or platelet rich plasma.

Then medical aesthetician draws separated plasma into a syringe ready for injection. The third and last step is to inject PRP into your scalp. When injecting the PRP into your scalp with special attention to the problem areas.

We do apply a numbing cream to the area we’re working on to ensure that the whole procedure is as painless as possible. Also, we have other pain management options available. We want to be sure that you, our patient, is comfortable during the whole treatment process. So, if you’re the type of person who fears needles, you shouldn’t be worried. You are in good hands.

The process

Step 1

We use a special PRP collection tube to draw your blood. After blood collection we place the tube into a centrifuge.

Step 2

After 10 minutes of centrifugation, we get platelet rich plasma and drew it into a syringe.

Step 3

Using a syringe with small needle, we inject PRP into your scalp in the areas that need improvement.

As with most procedures, there is a careful process involved in using PRP for hair regrowth, beginning with a standard blood collection from the patient’s arm. Next, the tube of blood is put into a machine called centrifuge, which spins the blood tube to separate out the white and red blood cells from the plasma. The plasma, rich in platelets, is then injected directly into the scalp at the level of the hair follicles.

The process is meticulous — with injections beginning across the scalp, approximately at every half inch over the area of thinning hair — but typically, the entire procedure takes less than a half hour.

PRP Hair Loss Treatment
Risks envolved

PRP is an absolutely natural hair loss treatment. Because we use the patient’ own blood cells (platelets) it has no potential risks or side effects.

PRP hair loss treatment is performed under sterile doctor’ office conditions. It minimizes and eliminates any risk of infection.

You might experience a slight burning sensation after PRP hair loss treatment. Warm shower helps to relieve this discomfort. It also promotes scalp blood circulation which improves treatment results.

Also, there is no downtime and PRP treatment doesn’t hinder you from moving on with your daily routine!

PRP hair restoration treatment can be successfully used for both men and women. The best candidates for PRP hair restoration treatment are people who recently have begun to lose hair. And scientific research proves it. Are you experiencing gradual hair loss over a few years? PRP can be effective as well. PRP hair loss treatment works well in treating androgenic alopecia, hair thinning condition affecting both men and women. And it is effective for women with so-called traction alopecia. This is hair thinning caused by certain hair styling, especially too tight pony tails and heavy hair extensions.

PRP will not restore hair loss due to certain medical conditions such as hypothyroidism, lupus, or liver disease. Yet, PRP may help restore hair loss caused by stress or the onset of a sudden illness.

PRP won’t work for anyone who’s completely bald and needs to completely restore all lost hair.

As with any medical condition, the earlier you seek treatment the better is outcome.

When do you expect to see results?

Getting your hair back using the PRP hair restoration treatment isn’t a one-day job. It requires consistency for better results. At our office, we perform treatments at least once a month for the first three to four months. By following this protocol, most of our patients can see results within two-three months after the first treatment. The first result you note is decreased hair shedding, followed by hair regrowth and increased length of hair. Then we recommend maintenance treatments – one session every six months, to ensure ongoing scalp and hair follicles health.
